This Privacy Policy explains how Vegalab Inc. (“Vegalab,” “we,” “us” or “our”), the Canadian distributor of Youlief products, handles personal information when you visit youlief.ca, contact us, subscribe to marketing communications, place products in your cart or continue to our Shopify-powered checkout.

Vegalab Inc. is responsible for personal information under its control. Our Privacy Officer can be contacted using the information in the “Contact us” section below.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number and the information you include in a customer-service message.
• Newsletter information, including your email address, consent record and subscription or unsubscribe status.
• Shopping and order information, such as products selected, cart contents, shipping and billing addresses, order details, delivery status, returns or service history and communications about an order.
• Payment and transaction information. Checkout and payment-card processing take place through Vegalab’s Shopify store and its payment providers. Full payment-card numbers are not entered on youlief.ca. We may receive transaction identifiers, payment status and other information needed to process and support an order.
• Website and device information, such as IP address, browser and device type, approximate region, pages viewed, referring page, event information and timestamps collected through web-server logs, Cloudflare Web Analytics and Umami Analytics.
• Cart information stored in your browser’s localStorage so that your bag remains available while you browse.
• Any other information you choose to provide to us.

How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

• operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website;
• maintain your shopping bag and connect you to Shopify checkout;
• process, fulfill, deliver and support orders;
• calculate taxes and shipping, prevent fraud and maintain transaction records;
• respond to questions, complaints, privacy requests and customer-service messages;
• send marketing communications when we have the consent or other legal authority required to do so;
• measure site usage and understand which content and products are useful to visitors;
• comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory and product-safety obligations; and
• establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We limit collection, use and disclosure to purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances and as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Consent and marketing email

When you subscribe to marketing email, we use your email address to send Youlief news, product information and offers. You may unsubscribe using the link in an email or by contacting us. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending non-promotional messages required to complete or support a transaction.

We maintain consent and unsubscribe records as needed to comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation.

When we disclose information

We may disclose personal information to service providers that perform work for us, including:

• Shopify and payment providers for checkout, payment and order administration;
• Canada Post and other delivery or logistics providers used to fulfill and trace shipments;
• Cloudflare for website delivery, security and analytics;
• Umami for website analytics;
• email, customer-service, hosting, information-technology, fraud-prevention, accounting and professional-service providers; and
• PL Story Ltd. or other Youlief brand partners when reasonably necessary for product support, safety, regulatory compliance or brand operations.

Service providers may use information only for the services they provide to us, subject to their contracts and applicable law. We may also disclose information when required or permitted by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate fraud or misuse, or in connection with a proposed or completed business transaction.

We do not sell personal information for money.

Cookies, analytics and local storage

The site uses technologies needed to operate and protect the website and measure usage. The Youlief cart stores product and quantity information in your browser’s localStorage. Cloudflare and Umami may process technical and usage information such as IP address, device/browser information and page or event data.

Your browser may allow you to clear cookies or local storage. Clearing local storage will remove your saved Youlief cart. Some service providers may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own configurations and policies.

Processing outside your province or Canada

Some service providers may process or store personal information outside your province or outside Canada, including in the United States. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement or national-security authorities under that jurisdiction’s laws.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, to meet legal, tax, accounting, product-safety and dispute-resolution requirements, or as otherwise permitted by law. Retention periods vary by record type. When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize or securely dispose of it.

Safeguards

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law and permitted exceptions, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, or raise a concern about our privacy practices. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully completed and may limit services that depend on the information.

Children

This website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through youlief.ca.

Third-party sites

Our website links to third-party sites, including Shopify checkout and social networks. Their privacy policies apply to information they independently collect and control.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, service providers or legal requirements. The effective date above shows when the policy was last updated. We will provide additional notice when required by law.
